Hi everyone,

Making my first fancy watch purchase and am deciding between 2 reversos. Was wondering which you would pick — one has an added complication (moon face showing lunar calendar) and the other is about £3000 less but still a classic without that added complication. I don’t personally have any need for a moon face but I thought it would be pretty neat to have, it’s perhaps more special and does have a longer/sleeker shape. All help and advice appreciated please!

Both are very beautiful. If you don’t mind spending the extra for moon phase then esthetically it looks nicer. I prefer less complication when it comes to watches, don’t need to deal with all the winding etc [emoji51]

First of all I like your bracelet! I like the moonphase but I would probably go for the Riverso Tribute Moon: https://www.chronext.co.uk/jaeger-lecoultre/reverso/3958420/C60812.

I would go for the white dial version of the watch. I think you can easier combine it with different clothes. JLC makes good watches. Now you can't go wrong with a Reverso!

You got me into a rabbit hole after heading to Chronext, (a) https://www.chronext.co.uk/a-lange-soehne/saxonia/330-025/S10281 and (b) https://www.chronext.co.uk/a-lange-soehne/grosse-lange-1/139-025/S10230 :heart::heart::nuts:

Thanks for the recommendations, fruitybunch! I do love that tribute! It’s got a great face, love the night/day dial. Is Chronext reliable? I’ve never bought an expensive piece online before. I’m also not sure where I could try this on!

Re your comment on going for the white dial: sorry I have to clarify which you mean by this... I thought most reversos have dual faces. The ones I tried have both white and black faces :) .

Thanks again!!

Thanks everyone, you’ve all been so kind with sharing your input!

I’m still having a mull over it. Having a bit of FOMO over whether I’m best just going with a Rolex, but I think it might just be a bit too ostentatious for my liking/for my 30s!! Glad to know these watches aren’t too boring and have some “simpler” allure.

I have to admit I only bought a £2000 watch at Chronext but I think it they are a reliable party. I don't know where you live in the UK but they have a store here in London which makes it's a lot more trustworthy.

Ah yes, I wasn't sure whether it was a dual face one or one of those that you engrave on the non-face side. Sorry for causing the confusion. Definitely a beautiful watch then when you have white and black face. Clearly that watch will be ready for any occasion

@ffflying I would advise you to go with the watch you like most. Have a look at Rolex (got one too and in my 30s [m]) if you are undecided. I really think the Reverso is a beautiful watch and a real classic. Of course, your non watch geeks won't recognise it but who cares, right? Go for the watch that makes you happy and your heart tick and not for the watch that everyone recognises or your friends have. You have to wear it!

If a lady would wear this Reverso on a first date I would be delighted and would make a good impression  Women that like watches

Haha thanks for the advice. We can go on a date in Chronext! Jk. I felt baited and had to bite, but have a lovely SO lol. Anyway where is the store in London? I no longer live there but come back every year, so if I can wait it out I might go look. Do watches from Chronext keep their servicing warranty?

I did go to Rolex. I don’t like a vast majority of their watches on an emotional or visceral level, except for the Datejust and the men’s pieces which overwhelm my wrist. I know I will love the watch if I get it now, but just seems like I would love it more and appreciate it more in my later years.

By the way how did you discover the Tribute?

At this moment I think if I follow my heart it’s the JLC. I always feel awkward with ostensibly expensive things, so good point there — I would probably hate people noticing a Rolex and not wear it in the end...!

I am always happy to go to watch stores ;) The Chronext boutique in London is based on Fleet Street so in the City. Makes sense I guess ;) As far as I know the warranty is handled through Chronext not 100% sure if you keep the manufacturer's warranty. You might want to ask them.

How I found the Tribute? It's the one I would like to get ;) Yeah, Rolex DateJust are a bit boring if you ask me. Sounds like you really like the JLC I should get it! Just try if you can get a discount somehow
