How many of you still wear J12? I've got mine 8 years ago and still love it as much as day one  It's been a while since i wear the 33 (battery movement version), and noticed it is in need of a battery change. Called local Saks for a quote, but the rep was pretty rude on the phone, cutting me off half of the time I was taking and gave me the standard message - 8 to 12 weeks to get an estimate, because they don't know if battery is the sole reason that it stopped. I am not getting a good vibe from the local Saks but it is the only AD in the entire MI per Chanel website, ugh. My personal SA in my home state used to quote me right away, but she is on maternity leave so I don't want to bother her over this small issue.

Should I just try my luck at local high end jewelry store (such as Rolex/Cartier AD?), or stick with Saks since it is the only Chanel AD per website? Also any idea how much I will be looking at?

Unless you have a very reputable local watch dealer it's always best to take a repair to an AD. Funny things can happen to the inside of a watch and you would not be able to tell an authentic watch part from an after market part or if indeed a repair was required.

DH and I collect various luxury watch brands but not yours. Over the years odd things have happened and I will only manufacturer approved repair companies.

Sorry sounds like you are not getting the best customer service to start with but its the only way to know that your watch will be returned with all original parts correctly installed. Also if you have any repair issues the manufacturer can contact the dealer on your behalf.

Good luck!
