I recently went to the Coach store to buy the Thumper hangtag. I am a rather old for cartoon characters but Thumper has always been a favorite of mine. I did get the hangtag but I also bought the Thumper tote bag!

It was an impulse buy partly because I got it at a discount of $175 ($16 off) because the SA originally misquoted the price and she honored her quote. Also party because I will be going to Orlando soon and I thought it would be fun to bring this bag with me.

But I have other tote bags and I would still have the Thumper Hangtag (and Mickey, too!) so I don't need a Thumper tote bag - and I'm not a kid. Also, I prefer totes with zip pockets and this one doesn't have that.

With tax it would be about $200 back in my pocket, which is not a huge amount but it is real money that I could put toward something else.

I have to decide very soon and I am torn - what do you think?

As adorable as that tote is (and it is), you've listed enough reasons to suggest that it's just not you.
I once bought a graffiti crossbody I thought was super cute but ended up returning because I felt it was just too young for me and I always felt that when I wore it. Even if nobody else saw it that way, I felt a little ridiculous with it. Would you be comfortable carrying this tote or would you feel self conscious about it?

More importantly, things as simple as zip pockets can make the difference between you using a bag all the time or hardly ever reaching for it. My rule of thumb is, if I doubt I'll use it regularly, or it's missing a key element (in this case the zip pockets) to make it workable in my life, then it's better off on the store shelf than in my cupboard. My home is not a retail store and sometimes it's nice to appreciate a piece without having to own it.

So, based on what you've said here, I would suggest that the hangtag is enough as it will add that bit of whimsy to your other bags, and that $200 back in your pocket can be put towards something that you're certain feels like "you" and isn't something you would second guess purchasing.

After your reveal I bought the charm and tote. Thumper is sooooo cute!!! Anyway, I just returned the tote for the reasons you mentioned. It’s so adorable but I just didn’t think I would use it much and it was a lot of money just to sit. I decided the charm was worth keeping. I say return while you can. It’s not sold out so you can buy again if you decide you can’t live without it. Good luck deciding!

By the way, we aren’t too old for it. [emoji4]

I agree with everyone! I bought the pink unicorn canvas tote and decided to return it for many of the reasons mentioned here—no zipper, lack of pockets, not enough opportunities to use it.

I think we know when something won’t sit well with us. It’s good that you’re thinking about it now so you can return before the 30 day limit is up.
