So I find myself taking my girls to the mall today because of all you Pandora lovers. Had to check it out. Then my daughters and I started to have so much fun picking out a first charm. And they grabbed catalogs and started circling ones they wanted to get me next.
I do happen to think pandora bracelets are a fad. I try to resist fads at all costs. But I caved. This could be something really special.

THEN when I went to get my new watch sized, my jeweler had a display for fingerprint jewelry. AND GUESS WHAT? They make it in a bead! They are sooo cool. They also make charms and pendants, but I love my other necklaces and I'm not a dangly charm gal...and I've been looking for something to add yellow gold into my life. I will say the hole is every so slighly too small for a pandora (we tested one and it went on pretty far but seemed as though it might get stuck), but the jeweler said it was no problem to drill it a bit bigger...add two pandora clamps, and I'll be good to go! YAY! The beads are about the same size as a pandora bead...just a bit longer (or is it wider?)

They are yellow gold and on the right side. They look round but they are actually more oval. They come in silver ($119) and white, yellow and rose gold options ($jeweler said it depends on price of gold, but around $350. The back can be engraved with a saying or a name or a date...
Sooo...long story short, I think my DBTY budget just went straight to pandora fingerprint beads:hrmm:..and it's all your fault PF! ;)

What do you think of this idea? Or should I stick with the DBTY? I wish I could do both, but I can't right now.

I think it's very cute & something to keep but I would probably get the DBTY but that's just because I want one, have you tried the DBTY on & if so which do you prefer. Good luck with your decision.

Thanks! I have tried on the DBTY, and in a way I want it more, but here is how I have come to see it: The DBTY will be there in the future...my DD's are only 4 and 6 once :-) Plus my husband REALLY likes the fingerprint idea. I thought about it a lot last night and I am going to get them in yellow gold. I do still want the DBTY, and maybe it'll be a year before I can do it, but I'm ok with that :-)
I am sooo loving my starter bracelet more than I thought I ever would. And I love that I can see it all day long (as opposed to a necklace that I can't see). And I really really love that Pandora makes a tiny bracelet. I've never really had any bracelets because my wrist is so small. I have loads of pendants and rings and watches, but not really any bracelets, so this worked out well :-)

I stumbled upon this older thread while perusing, and I am curious as to whether you ended up getting a fingerprint bead or not! I thought I had one bookmarked on etsy but it was just for a regular dangle charm, so I did a bit more searching and found this seller's beads. I like her heart shaped ones http://www.etsy.com/listing/54703748/petite-fingerprint-heart-necklace but those the hole is smaller and it looks like it's just made for a regular bracelet/necklace chain. She does have a star shape that she describes as "pandora style" so I imagine the hole on that one would be big enough and theoretically she could make beads with that size hole in the other shapes if requested. The reverse of the charm can be engraved as well :)

Yes, I bought the beads and I do really like them. I wear them on a pandora double wrapped leather bracelet. They are very sold and quite heavy and I didn't like them on the metal pandora bracelet. Actually I decided to sell that bracelet and the queen bee, and just wear these fingerprints on the double wrap. I think they are way overpriced for what they are, and aren't quite as perfect as I had hoped. But I love them anyway :-) I will post some pictures tomorrow.
