Italian Leather versus Coach Leather

Hi all--
I hear alot of companies brag about how they use Italian leather and that this is better than other leathers, and hence higher quality compared to other companies. Which companies are they referring to? Put differently--is the leather that Coach uses for its pebbled and smooth leather bags inferior or superior or the same level as companies that brag about "Italian leather" ? Two companies that do this are Everlane and Cuyana. I'm new to this and am looking to buy long lasting bags so would be grateful for your help! Is Coach leather inferior, superior, or the same level as the leather Everlane and Cuyana use?

I'm not sure where Coach gets their leather currently but I was a brand rep for their online chat feature for 3 yrs (2013-2016) and when I was doing that, the leather did in fact come from tanneries primarily in Italy and Germany, just assembled in China and Vietnam. They were using the same tanneries as the luxury leather companies. I would assume if the relationship stayed status quo, they would have continued and still be using them today. I cannot speak for comparing Coach to Cuyana and Everlane, but I can attest that Coach tends to be the best bang for your buck. Higher end bags are typically higher because of the brand name and they assemble the bags in countries that pay workers a higher wage due to higher cost of living.
