I noticed lately that some of the newly released classic flaps seem to be made incorrectly.

I started noticing this 1 or 2 seasons ago. It is not every single classic flap, just some of them. There doesn't seem to be a pattern at all...I've seen it with caviar, lambskin, small size and medium size.

The top of the bag is pointier than it should be, like a reissue should be shaped instead of a classic double flap.
And the grommets are in the wrong place. Instead of on the top of the bag, they are placed too low - onto the front.

I haven't seen anyone mentioning this or discussing this at all. I almost feel like I'm going insane, because these bags look so wonky to me, and no one is saying anything or acting like anything is wrong with them!

Has anyone else noticed this?

In this picture, the caramel mini is how the top of the bag should be shaped and where the grommets should be placed. You can see the pink compared to it is not right...and I am seeing classics made like the pink more and more lately.

maybe a silly question...but is the pink a double grommet? the placement looks like it is a 4 grommet bag. If this is your photo- then I am asking a silly question!

It's not a silly question! It's not my photo, it's from IG but it has a watermark on it from the original poster.

It is just a regular classic double flap. It does have 4 grommets (and the mini has 2), but from what I have seen classic double flaps are supposed to have the grommets placed more like the mini, not on the front of the flap, like this:

They should be more flat and near the top of the bag like this bright pink bag, not placed onto the front like the light pink is. And I am seeing more and more bags lately with grommet placement like the light pink. The top of the bags with this issue are also way too pointy, shaped like a reissue should be.

Maybe it has something to do with lack of edge stitching? Just noticed the light pink is missing that - did you notice if the other 'pointy' ones are the same? Might be a slight variation to the style, but can't say I've noticed it. Most of the ones I see are properly placed.

My 21C ivory small cf is super wonky, the top is actually flat and squared off instead of round, and the flaps are really asymmetrical (it's worse in person than in the photo, and there's sooo many other issues but I don't feel like taking more photos lol). I saw some pictures of the the 21C rose claire cf and they had the same issue. Seems like one of the craftspeople making them is new and doesn't know what they're doing or something :annoyed: Really annoying when this happens with seasonal colors with high demand so you can't even exchange it for another one.

I don't think it has anything to do with edge stitching. I posted a picture of a hot/bright pink classic double flap without edge stitching and the grommets are properly placed on it and the top isn't pointy. I honestly just think it is poor craftsmanship lately :sad:

YES this is exactly what I mean! I'm sorry you had this experience :sad: The grommets look ok on yours in this picture, but the bag does look like it is shaped differently than I am used to seeing with classics.

It must be someone that is making the bags now doesn't know what they are doing, but then why are they being approved...does no one else notice this??? The SAs don't even notice? I am so surprised that I haven't seen anyone talking about this at all.

I’ve seen the holes being placed at the front before, and I’ve also read about other people noticing on this forum, but the pointy top looks as if the bag has been grabbed from the top instead of by the chain, thus squeezing the front and back together and causing the point.

It does look that way but it's a brand new bag. I also just saw a classic double flap on instagram with the sides folded like a reissue. It is so strange.
