Is this semi-mount practial?

Good morning all! I'm not expecting a proposal any time soon but, my boyfriend and I have started looking at rings. I fell in love with the second ring I tried on. I have looked at other rings but, I still like this one the best. Before I completely fall in love, please advise if this semi-mount is practical.

It has pave diamonds, not on the side of the bands, but on the front and back. I'll be attaching pictures because I'm having a hard time describing it.

My worries are if having the pave diamonds on the front and back are a bad idea. I don't really see pave diamonds like that and maybe there's a reason for it that I don't know of.

I'm sure the wedding band will have to be custom made to prevent scratching.

Also, I like the thickness of the band but, the width prevents me from closing my fingers all the way. Slight gap in between my ring and pinky fingers and ring and middle fingers. I know this would bother me. The jeweler wasn't in when we had dropped by so I didn't get a chance to ask him if it's possible to decrease the width of the band but still be able to have the pave diamonds.

Let me know if any of you have had experiences with a similar semi-mount.

GORGEOUS ring but the wedding band would end up gaping with this ring.

If that's not an issue with you then it's just GORGEOUS!!!!

Well, are you planning on wearing a wedding band with this ring? Most women who shop where I work do not put an additional band with rings like that for the reasons you mentioned and then they'd also lose the look since a stacked band would cover it. It IS very pretty tho.

pave on the sides would mean you can't have just any band paired w/ it. There's need to be a spacer to prevent rubbing and ruining.

see, i personally think this particular ring/design, you could easily get away with not wearing a wedding band at all. if this is the ring that you're gravitating towards, perhaps just consider not wearing it with a wedding band. you could always wear a wedding band alone if you don't want to wear your diamond.

i'll do this when i'm playing tennis or skiing or working out, as i don't want to wear my e-ring because i'm not comfortable wearing it while i'm sweating (it would probably just fall right off my finger), and sometimes i just want a casual look when i'm hanging around the house or laying low.
