Is this normal?

Hi all,

I just made my very first luxury purse purchase from ******. I’ve been really nervous, as I’ve seen mixed reviews about this site. I just received the Gucci Marmont bag today and am concerned because one of the Gs looks a bit corroded. I haven’t seen this on any other marmont and reached out to Erica about it. She says this is normal and all the bags are like this, as it’s Gucci’s “new antique hardware” and it’s not defective.

Again, I haven’t seen this on the many pictures or videos I’ve seen of this bag. Is this normal? If you bought a marmont recently, does one of your Gs look like this? Should I keep it (she says they’re all nearly identical so an exchange would be pointless)?

I would really appreciate your help!

Hi, I am no authenticator. Is this silver color metal or gold color metal ? I've purchased many items with the metal GG's like shoes, bags, wallets, belts, jewelry and other accessories from the Gucci Flagship location at Fifth Avenue, NYC and I never seen anything like this as far as 'new antique hardware' in the gold/brass finish... there is an antique look to the metal on my items, but not tarnishing, and I had items from when this style first came out a few years ago, and with lots of heavy love (lol) they still hold up to look exactly the same. Do note that I only purchased the items with the gold/brass GG's never the silver. If you purchased this new with this look and you are uncomfortable, try to see if you can get your money back and then go to the Gucci boutique to purchase your items... you will be made whole if you ever experience any discomfort with your items for life from Gucci. I have been a shopper with them for over 30 years, and they will fix, repair, replace or give you in in-store credit for you.

Thank you for the response! The Gs are in the bronze color that most items have now. I asked the seller to refund the money because, even though it was a great deal, this is just weird. I suppose you get what you pay for and it would just give me more peace of mind to get it directly from them.

Honored to serve and good news for the refund. It's a better feeling when you know your item is authentic and you got it from the source, with paper work, box, ribbon, tissue paper, shopping bag and store receipt all from Gucci. If you can... go into a Gucci boutique and see the items first hand... look at a few of the same, you'll see that there is a nice antique finish, but no tarnished parts. (plus the endless champagne or Prosecco they serve you doesn't hurt either) Trust me, your walk will be different, posture different and attitude will be different and the added confidence you will have will be priceless and worth the extra bucks. Always remember... if it's too good to be true... it usually is. Also, find a way to get gifted with the Gucci items you desire... I am sure it feels so much better than buying the items yourself. When you master that... teach me how to get my friends and family to purchase Gucci gifts for me...lol. I always give, but never get.
