Is this normal for a new Gucci Marmont?

Hi All,
I ordered a Gucci Marmont handbag from Flannels and it's been a bit of a disappointment all round. Firstly, it arrived in a black jiffy bag (no box or gucci packaging) - hardly the 'premium' experience I was expecting for a designer handbag!

Secondly, when I opened the packaging, the bag had a strong smell (kind of paint / industrial smell). I'm not sure if this is normal?

I'm tempted to return it and get a refund, but I got the bag discounted (as i had a voucher). I would not pay full price for the bag, as i just don't feel the quality justifies the price tag (& I own many designer bags).

Can anyone who has purchased a marmont from a gucci store tell me if this smell is normal? Im conflicted about whetheror not to keep it - I have wanted this bag for a while, but am so disappointed in the purchasing experience

Sadly this is just the way FLANNELS packs all of their orders.
If you’re lucky you might get a GUCCI dust bag but GUCCI boxes are exclusive only to GUCCI direct.
I own a Marmont bag (which funny enough originally I ordered from Flannels, but once it arrived I realised it was the larger size- and without any GUCCI packaging- so I’ve returned it).
The one I’ve received form GUCCI doesn’t have an industrial smell just a lovely “leather” smell.

I bought a marmont mini flap from the store 2 weeks ago and it only has that new “nice” leather scent.
