Is this normal for a new bag?

It is normal and not considered a defect. It is not on all bags, but I have seen it on many. I asked the Store Manager when I first encountered it, and she said it is not considered a defect. I have seen it on several pastel escale speedy bags.

Just because a store manager says it's not considered a defect doesn't mean anything...
This wrinkly leather is certainly not normal. I've been a LV customer for the last 25 years and not one of my bags ever had this wrinkling. I'd definately return it. Good luck.

A big part of a cowhide is usually like this. Vuitton uses the nicest, smooth inner part 99,9% of the time. This time the laser-cut scanner was a little too generous. It is natural, it was already like that when the cowhide entered the factory. On the other hand... I would also want a smooth one. For 1000+ euros, come on.

It’s near the bottom of the bag and wouldn’t bother me. Leather will naturally wrinkle over time. If it bothers you exchange it, but know that something else may be wrong with the new one. Gone are the days where you had a few bags in the store to choose the best of. Good luck.

I have been collecting for the last 25 years as well. I like to purchase the fashion show collections and capsules. I have seen this on some of my speedy bags, including the most recent escale. You may not trust your store manager, but I do. She knows how particular I am so when I don't like something like the wrinkling, she will try to get me a replacement. I didn't say I like the look, I just said it is not considered a defect from Louis Vuitton.
