Hello, I got this vintage bag and was hoping to restore it. It's part canvas and part leather. If the spots are mold, would this bag be safe to use after cleaning? How should I go about cleaning it and what products should I use? I'm also worried about getting the bag too wet while cleaning and cause it to lose shape. For the leather parts I was going to clean with saddle soap, air dry (possibly under the sun) then recondition and apply a coat of protector all over.

Outside: I'm not sure what the stain marks are but I'm thinking it's possibly mold or oil. Some parts of the canvas look slightly darker so I'm hoping after cleaning it would look bright and more even again. Is there a solution/DIY cleaner I can use to brighten?

Inside: inside is part leather and fabric. The white stuff looks like mold to me but the pockets are fairly flat so not sure how to best get into this to throughly clean. Any suggestions?

Smell: There's a strong smell coming from the bag but I'm planning to store a charcoal bag or baking soda in it for a while after cleaning to see if that helps but I welcome other suggestions also.

Thanks for reading and looking forward to hear your suggestions!

There is some info available via search, but I would not personally attempt this. See posts 9,13, and 14 in the link below
for some ideas. I would also be very careful and not store it anywhere near other bags or clothing.

good luck!
