Hi all! I just got the Mercer I bought on the Black Friday sale and I’m trying to decide if this bag is right for me.

I’ve never really considered the Mercer before, I think because (too me) it looks like a more mature bag.

Not that I’m not “mature” I’m in my 40s but I guess maybe the right word is structured.

Anyway, I loaded her up with all my stuff and I do like how she’s still light and I can easily find my stuff.

Plus the open side pockets are great, and I just discovered the front slip pocket. Also, she’s NAVY! I don’t have a navy bag in my collection.

The leather is yummy and I do really like how structured the bag is. I don’t really buy bags that slouch, it drives me crazy if the bag won’t stand up on its own.

I love satchels and have two rogues and two swaggers, so I’m good in those departments. I love my rogue, but darn if she isn’t heavy at times, and stuff kind of gets lost in the cavernous sides.

Anyway, looking for your input here.

Thanks! IMG_1512081026.675340.jpg

Mercer is a nice basic satchel, I think. And it's Navy, and you don't have Navy! :) I don't think the Mercer is particular "mature" because of the studs at the corners and framing at the bottom of the bag (without those, I would agree it's a more "stately" bag).

As seen in my Avatar, I have the Mercer in Lapis blue, and I love it! I think the Mercer is a very functional, comfortable bag. I tend to carry a lot in my bags, yet the Mercer still feels light. I have many other bags which feel much heavier than the Mercer, despite its contents. I really enjoy carrying it, and think that you made a good choice! The leather is wonderful too.

I just got the Mercer 30 with star rivets. I don't think it is too mature of a bag. I think it looks much cuter in person than it does in pictures. I haven't carried mine yet, still deciding. It's so hard for me to cut the tag off anything - it seems so permanent, and I don't want to make the wrong decision. I think I will really like the pockets, making it much easier to organize and find my items. I don't think I'll have the problems I've had with compartment bags when you can't remember which compartment things are in so you end up looking in all of them, because all the compartments except the center are open. My major concern is that it will be too much trouble to open and close the turnlock.

I appreciate that it is lightweight. I think it will probably be more comfortable to carry than Rogue 25, which I was also considering.

I'm not young, but no matter how old I get, some bags will still seem too old for me. I also don't think I can pull off an overly formal bag, which may be the same thing as mature.
