This is the third used MC speedy I have purchased and two of the three have had the same issue. I am on the hunt for one that doesn’t have this issue but I am not sure if it is inevitable and most will.

I also don’t know if it will get worse or if I enjoy it as it is.

Thoughts? I am referencing cracking directly under the stitching on the handle.

it looks like it had constantly carried too heavy items or / and too used, buy new or less used ones will not have such issue

I recently purchased one and it had cracks exactly at the same areas (it did also have a small crack at the side of it too)! I asked around and the consensus seemed like those are the stress points especially for the speedy due to the weight of the hardware. Like you, I ended up looking for another one as I love the design so much and did find one in pristine condition but now am left wondering if that one will eventually end up developing the cracks in the same spot too.
Which years were those that had cracks in the canvas? Did you find them the minute you got them or did they develop after you’ve used them?

All of the ones I bought had the cracks when I bought them. I had several years, that didn’t seem to make a difference. I have since given up…it will break my heart if I spent all this time trying to find a perfect one only for the cracks to develop after I carry it so I decided it’s best to avoid. Odd because I don’t see those same cracks on the regular monogram speedy …

I see, thanks for your response:) did any of your speedies start developing cracks after you’ve had it for several years? (Not sure if that’s what you meant)
I agree with you on the regular speedies. I went to check my regular speedies and even the one from 1994 is pristine! They all have a single brass stud placed above where the stitching is and I think that gives the chaps extra strength and reinforcement without placing all the strain at the stitch points. I am not sure if the studs on the MC speedy extend into the canvas to reinforce the chaps or are they only on the chaps for decoration, in which case, all the strain would be on the stitches in the MC ..

All of the bags I bought were used and I returned them once I saw the cracks. Every single bag I bought (one from 2005, I think…one from 2008 and 2012) all had the same issue so I didn’t keep them
