Hello everyone
I would just like some advice please regarding the pricing of these rings
They are from a local jewellery ( not in my size but would be made in my size )

The eternity half ring is platinum with diamonds 0.97 carats H/I SI £2950

The wedding band is platinum 2.5mm court ring £650

Does this seem like the right price range for these ? I'm just curious as I have no idea what I'm doing or if i should be looking elsewhere

These both made my heart flutter but I don't want to blindly purchase in excitement and then find out I coud have got the same eternity ring for £1000 elsewhere . I'm happy to pay the retail price but just don't want to be an idiot

They look beautiful together!

I’m also from the UK - do you mind me asking if these are from one of the big high street chains or from an independent jeweller? If the first, I would be a little wary of the gradings for the diamonds. High street jewellers often use very poor quality diamonds which elsewhere might be graded much lower. If the rings are from an independent jeweller then I would ask for certification for the diamond band.

I think the prices sound in line with how much pieces like this cost here, so assuming the specs of the diamond band are as described I think you have found a good deal!

Hi :) thank you so much for replying. This is an independant jewellers which sells new pieces and also vintage pieces too. They only have the one store in the country from what I can see online.
I didn't think to ask if the diamonds would come with a certificate i just assumed they would. Thank you for bringing that up!
I don't mind if this isn't the most cheapest deal possible I just didn't want to pay £3000 on a ring if elsewhere they generally sell for £1000 for example.

I can’t imagine you would be able to buy a nearly 1 carat diamond band with decent specs anywhere for £1000, but especially in the UK where fine jewellery comes at a premium price. I think the price you were quoted sounds about right but you might be able to negotiate a discount if you buy both rings from them?

The independent jeweller in my town offers up to 20% off if you haggle - sometimes even more - I always ask him what ‘my’ price would be :giggle: Even if you don’t have an existing relationship I’m sure you can still get a decent discount with the amount you are spending!

Definitely request certification and good luck - all very exciting! :)

Thank you so much !
In your opinion do you think the stones look big enough on my finger? I have quite big fingers and I worry they swallow up the diamonds. I don't know whether it's a good size on my finger or not .
I'm looking to create a look similar to this in the photos I'm now attaching

I love that look!

I think your ring looks great - how big is each stone? I also have big fingers (US 7.5, UK P) and my seven stone band looks good with each stone being 0.11.

My ring size is O / P as it fluctuates .
I actually have no idea what each individual stone size is as I was told that information but can ask that next time I go there.
I would prefer a full eternity band however I'm worried about not being able to resize it as my weight has changed alot over the years and I'm currently losing weight.

I can’t say anything about the price, but I think they look amazing on you.
Will it be your engagementring? My engagementring looks similar and I also have big fingers :)

Hi :) thanks so much for your reply. Yes i will be wearing it as an engagement ring and wedding ring. We have been together 17 years and have 4 children but never married due to me having panic disorder and agoraphobia I have always never been able to do the whole wedding thing which I would love to do. I know this isn't the proper way to do things as such but we keep waiting and now our children keep asking when we will get married so even more reason to find a way to do it.
One day I would love to add a single stone engagement ring too and create a stack like in the photos but I'm so overwhelmed at the moment and not sure where to start.

Mine too, technically I’m an O and a half but sometimes can go as low as O and as high as P. I think a half eternity is a good idea in case your weight fluctuates and you need to resize the band. You can likely get more bang for your buck with the size vs price as there will be fewer but bigger stones!

There is no ‘proper’ way to do things - it sounds like you have been through a lot and are a survivor with a lovely family! :hugs:

Arguably getting married now is even better as your children can be part of it, they must be so excited :hbeat:

Building your stack gradually sounds like a great idea and maybe a single stone engagement ring could be a gift for a future milestone? :) My rings are very different now to when we got married 10 years ago, I made a mistake with my original wedding band and now prefer to stack eternity bands with a diamond three stone ring in lieu of my official engagement ring. Taste can change significantly over time, which is why gradually curating a stack that you are happy with sounds very sensible!

Thank you ever so much for such an understanding, positive and kind reply.
My children especially my girls get very excited about it.
That sounds like a great idea regarding the single stone ring.
I've always wanted to have a nice eternity ring so for me I might even end up not going for the single diamond ring in the end who knows

I was able to get a 2.10 carat full eternity ring, made by Tiffany (so no issues with quality), for £1190.

The price you were given is "fair" for retail, but it's always going to be cheaper online. Unless you really love that specific ring, maybe check out the offerings on the various online platforms. :flowers: Jewelry holds their shape very well over time, so "used" jewelry doesn't even look used! Of course, there's also a certain gratification in getting it new over the counter. Nothing wrong with that if it's your preference.

Congrats on having such an occasion to celebrate! I love eternity rings, good choice, would love to see what you end up with!

I really don't mind used jewellery at all. I just don't know where to shop do you have any recommendations. I'm only worried about buying something fake when shopping used that's all.
To me jewellery is just as beautiful used and can always be cleaned up.
Even when I purchased my Cartier love bracelet from Cartier in london the bracelet they initially sold me and i was going to walk out with was covered in scratched. Its only as i noticed before leaving i was able to ask to swap it.
Thank you so much for replying . I actually recognise your user name from years back. I'm sure it was in the Carolina Bucci thread maybe ? It would have been about 10 years ago maybe

Yes! I recognized your name too and wondered if it was the Carolina Bucci bracelets we met over. xD I still have mine, but don't wear it anymore! I should!! Even that bracelet I got secondhand for much cheaper than retail. :)

eBay has a pretty good return policy that really favors the buyer, so I always feel comfortable buying from them. I've purchased a lot of expensive jewelry over the internet, from overseas, and haven't yet had a problem. The biggest scare was once the package got lost in the mail, but eBay refunded both me and the seller the amount (because it went through eBay's global shipping program, it was their problem), and then the item still turned up many weeks later! I told the seller, but they'd already gotten paid, and I told the shipping program too, but they didn't care, so I ended up with free jewelry.

I think if you're careful and look through the seller's feedback + photos carefully, you can find authentic deals. I use picclick to search through lots of eBay listings, it's a pretty good tool!
