Hi guys,

I am a newbie here so hopefully everyone will help me to decide to buy the below diamond or not. Thank you very much for your help!

Details of the diamond:

3.45ct J VS2
3 Excellent
Depth 59.8 %
Table 57 %
Crown Angle 33.5°
Crown Height 14.0%
Pavilion Angle 40.8°
Pavilion Depth 43.0%
Star Length 50%
Lower Half 80%
Girdle Thin to Medium, Faceted, 2.5%
Culet None
Fluorescence None
Clarity Characteristics Cloud, Crystal, Feather, Needle

I have checked the HCA score and it is 0.8 - Excellent.

Same question as above--is it eye clean? Those clarity characteristics make me a wee bit nervous in a VS2. Have you SEEN IT? That's the most important part. I don't personally like that crown angle with that pavilion angle. But your eyes have to make this decision.

Thank you everyone :)

I have seen it at the store and I cannot see any impurities so I think to me, it is eye clean.

@ Ame: Could you please explain why you dont like that crown angle with that pavilion angle? How do they affect the stone?

Those angles do not line up well, so the light return will not be as good as it could be and will be overall slightly darker than one with a better matchup of angles. However: The bottom line is that if YOUR EYES loved this stone, then the paper and whatever I say means nothing. Buy what your eyes love, not what the paper says.

Thanks Ame :)

Now...Ladies, what do you think if I set this stone on a ring with brown diamond halo? Or which color will be the best for this J color stone?

That would be pretty cool actually. But you could obviously get by with white melee just fine, or go with sapphires or something colorful. Whoever is doing the setting would likely be able to source lower color (I-J) ideal cut melee for you, I'd bet, though the slight contrast from super high color would be kind of neat.

Hi! The crown angle is a bit shallow but could still work well if the stone is an excellent cut. The pavilion angle is spot on! The stone is optimized for size as it is not deep so no wasted stone in depth. If it is not dark in the center from being shallow you should be good to go.

Sounds like a nice stone, the color will be tinted in this size of course but I personally like it and many do too. Is the stone tinted yellow or brown? There is a difference. That is what I would base my decision on what color stones I would put around it. I would not do white with a J. I would definitely do fancy color, brown or yellow sound really cool, again this is really personal, I personally love fancy yellows and cognacs and have done similar designs myself. The white halo will only show off that your center stone is off-white, I would not do that, I would not emphasize it despite personally liking J stones but this is just my humble opinion.
