Is this a defect, is this normal for this Chanel item?

I doubt it. Perhaps try storing it with stuffing or a bag pillow and see if it gets better? It personally doesn’t bother me.

Agreed, I think it's just wrinkling. I have a softer caviar bag and I rotate how I store it.

Thanks! May I ask how you store it. I currently have some stuffing inside to see if the wrinkles puff out.

Instead of storing it upright, like sitting on it's bottom, I store it on it's side.

I have a Jumbo in caviar that looks exactly like this. I have another one (different hardware color) from the same year that doesn't. I think it's a normal variance from being hand made. I keep a pillow in the one that has the slant and it did seem to straighten it out a bit--but not as much as the other bag. The caviar is gorgeous though (actually looks like yours!) so I just deal with it.

If you are within the return window, you should. My WOC (three years old) developed a loose thread on one corner about a year or less ago - not sure how it happened but was slightly annoyed because I don’t even use it that often!

It’s normal. I would be fine with it. If it bothers you, exchange or return for one that does not have that issue.
