I'm just wondering why it hasn't been as popular as the veg tanned. Aside from the veg tanned being the "original" leather for the brand, I think a large bucket in tumble leather would look quite nice (though I haven't seen one IRL). I'm also deciding between tumble, calf, and canvas bucket in blu! Any thoughts?

Funny that you mentioned this. I wanted a mini bucket in tumbled leather at the last relaunch. But at the last minute I decided on veg tanned Brandy instead. Maybe it's the way that it photographs, but I think that the tumbled leather bucket looks a little crumpled and thus sloppy.

Oh I would love a brandy one as well! So many on my wish list :) I guess the appeal of the bucket is partly due to its beautiful structure.

I love the kind of leather that is the tumbled leather however in a bucket bag I prefer structure. I like that they're stiff in the calf and veg tanned and hold shape. I'm not a fan of how the buckets look and how soft they are in tumbled. The totes may be ok but I haven't got any of those nor do I intend to at this stage, I have a few totes of other brands.

I got a tumbled for one of my first purchases and it seemed so different from the other bags I didnt even think it was authentic. Also like others have said, it reeked! I am very sensitive to scent and I could barely even take pictures of it, it was so bad. I was sooooo glad I bought from a retailer thst accepted returns. Also I'm probably one of the only ones who doesnt really like any of their leathers. My favorite is the canvas and the saffiano a distant 2nd. I even tried a full calf and was baffled at why the extra $$. Ah well, we all like what we like. :)

I love the idea of canvas. I imagine its softness to be in-between the tumble and the veg.tanned ?

Yes inbetween. It still has structure but still moldable. I usually leave it half open and it will close on its own. No squeeking, no marks from scratches. And the bonus 2 pockets that are my fav! [emoji2]

I'm trying to decide between Blu calf and tumbled leather for a mini backpack (my first). I like the look of the calf better but feel that tumbled will be more convenient both to use and store. Anyone who owns one (or both) can offer advise?

Did you ever get one?
I just ordered a mini backpack in black tumbled leather! I think I will like it if it doesn't smell awful.

Hi Chloe, I tried to order one from Bergdorf Goodman today but unfortunately the one they had available is fulfilled from their store and they can't ship those overseas. So I'm still 50/50 on whether to persist with a tumbled mini backpack or a veg-tanned one. I have a feeling the former will be more user friendly and the latter will be more stylish. Decisions, decisions...

On the plus side, I was using my Blu tumbled mini bucket today and the smell is almost completely gone (but it did take over 6 weeks of regular use!)

Oh my gosh! Six weeks is a long time.
I'm thinking about the rain we are supposed to get this year, so I feel like pebbled might be better than my buckets in the veg tanned.
Thx:)

Jellybebe, I love my tumbled bag. It arrives soft and slouchy and don't require babying at all. The only prob is the smell! If you are prepared for that and prepared tolerate it for some time (in my case, over a month with regular airing), then it is a great bag!

Hi! I'm thinking of getting a tumbled leather tote too but on the fence regarding the size. What size did you get? May i ask what your height is? Thanks in advance!!

great to know! I recently blogged about the tumble leather tote because I thought it would make for a great work bag (like you said, eckw - no babying!). haven't been able to get my hands on one yet, but hoping to soon.
