Is there any way to fix this damage to my Reissue 226?

I have a 226 Reissue from 2011. The bag is in perfect condition expect for this dent at the back pocket that is dull and depressed (about 2 mm deep). Every time I touch this bag my eyes just lock on to this spot.

I tried to condition it with leather conditioner but that didn't help. If I were to push from the inside of the pocket, the flaw can almost temporarily disappear.

What do you think can cause this? Any suggestions on any DIY that can improve this? I contacted Leathersurgeons but they don't think there is anything they can do to improve the dent much. 20210109_134503.jpg

Hi, I started doing some bag refurbishment every now and then as a hobby. What could make it look better (= what I would try on a “project“ bag): take the back pocket off, get between the layers of material (through undoing some stitches or a small incision from the back) and stuffing the area with additional material. But this is quite a big project and since there is always the risk of damaging the bag in the process, or making it look worse than it did before I would never try it on an expensive bag.
I hope you find a quick and safe solution, though. Good luck!

Thanks for taking the time to share your idea. That indeed sounds like a big and risky project. I don't think I will dear to try that at this point!

I wonder if the dent was caused by the chain strap pressing into it during storage? You may want to check with Leather Surgeons. I've heard good things about them, though I've never used them. They may know of a way to remove the dent.
