Is there a duty free tax when shipping Birkin to Hong Kong?

Hong Kong is a duty free port, so no tax for incoming goods.

Thank you, ms piggy!!:hbeat::love: So I only need to pay for shipping fee FSH charge me and will also get 10% VAT back and that's it, correct? No need to pay any custom fee in HK? I'm in Bangkok right now and try to figure out how to get my bag from FSH.... :p

That is correct, the bag's price will be automatically less off 10% VAT if the bag is ship out of Europe from FSH. You then pay for shipping and insurance charges as well (and CITES if it's exotic skin).

I would like to know if that applies for shipping from US to HK as well. If I purchase the items in Hermes store, can I ask them to send to HK so I don't need to pay the local tax?
Thanks in advance!

U will be charged local tax if buying in the US. and I dun think they will ship internationally, but u could do the shipping urself.

yes, you can ship items from Hermes (as well as other brands) to Hong Kong without paying the local sales tax. They will charge you either a USD 250 flat fee or provide you with a shipping estimate (takes a few days) for international shipping.

Alternatively, shipping within US to another state that DOES NOT have a physical Hermes store will also waive you the sales tax (such as Arizona or Washington DC).

Please bear in mind that any exotics purchased in the US will need an approval from the Fish and Wildlife Service for export purpose. This process is long, tedious and may be expensive. I would avoid doing this for exotics.

Thank you for ur explanation on the exotics. I went to the Hermes store in Bellagio and I asked the SA if he could help me ship my purchases to HK. He replied saying he can't do it because their policies changed. Then I also asked if he could send items to my friends living in other states in US. He said no as well... I'm from Canada and I don't want to go through the Canadian customs wih my h purchases. I guess maybe it is just the bellagio h store policy...

H policy has changed. I don't think they will ship anything of leather anymore.

Its all across US stores. Their new policy states they will no longer ship internationally. I do wonder if FSH does ship outside Europe though.

yes they still do

Hmm. that way I guess what I need to figure out if it is cheaper to ship it out of FSH, get the 10% tax refund, pay for insurance plus shipping fee, or just take the bag with me when leaving EU. shipping out does make it easier to move when travelling. I always travel light and sometimes leave boxes :D:D:D:D Has anyone ever tried shipping out fr FSH? :smile1:
