I’d like to add a second padded cassette to my collection as I’ve seen a preloved one in a colour I love. However, I’ve read a few comments that people feel they’re starting to look dated. What’s everyone’s opinion on this? I was kind of hoping they’d stand the test of time and be a BV classic!

I don't think it's dated yet. I may feel differently in a few seasons. Some will say it's less likely look dated in a neutral color, and I tend to agree. However, I purchased one in Holographic. I bought it for the color and I think the Padded Cassette displays the color/finish beautifully. I don't consider mine an everyday bag, but hope to carry it for years as a fun/statement bag. With this novelty color/finish, I hope if it dates, it will date in a cool-vintage way.

IMO, yes. Especially the hardware. I was hoping with the new creative director they would rework it. With the original details and finishes, it reads as a “trend bag” that is past its peak.

It’s obviously still a nice bag, and if you find your first one easy to use and you really like the color you found, I don’t think it being a bit dated is a reason not to get the preloved one you found.

Thanks for all your replies. I do love it so I did get it! It’s preloved but unused and was a great price (£1100 which is around $1400)
I did go into Bottega to speak to an SA. Obviously I didn’t mention the whole dated thing lol but according to him BV do view this as a classic. He said it’s become their ‘trademark’ bag, and they certainly don’t look at it as a trend :)
