Is the leather on the Conor weird?

I just bought a Conor Large Shoulder in Gunmetal Lamskin and received in the mail today. The leather seems to be pebbled. The base colour is silverish... even slight goldish? with black coming through. Very had to describe. I'm at work, so I just had a quick look... It is certainly unique, and quite heavy, to my surprise. I'm not sure whether I like it just yet. But given I bought it really cheap, I'm not able to return it.
