Is the Balenciaga city similar in size to the 35cm Birkin?

Hello.... I apologize for starting yet another thread on Birkin sizes... After reading various threads on 30 vs 35, I'm still confused what would be a good size. Unfortunately, as I am in Singapore, it would be hard to "try" on the different sizes before deciding which one to go for. My brother is headed to Paris in a couple of days, and I'm hoping to ask him to go to the H stores there to try his/my luck. So, I've been racking my brain figuring out what size would be better.

I'm 5'5 ft (166cm) and looking at the various action shots of you lovely ladies, I realize that I could almost go either way. I like the idea of the 30cm birkin being able to transition between day and night, but I worry it might be too small and cutesy if I were to wear it jeans and heels. I do know for sure that a Balenciaga city is the perfect size bag for me. Then again, it is a very soft and floppy bag and I don't know how the size relates to a birkin. Hence, I need to ask you lovely ladies to enlighten me about balenciaga vs birkin sizes. Please help! Thanks a bunch!

It is quite hard to make such a comparison.
A birkin 35 is roughly the same size as a Balenciaga City, but a birkin 35 will fit much more, and look much larger than the Balenciaga city when you hold it since the City slouches but on the opposite the birkin stays boxy.
Having owned both bags I can tell that despite its measurements the City is just in between the two birkin sizes you are considering.
I am also 5'5ft, and both 30 and 35cm work for me.

I can't help you on the size comparison with the City but will say that it is such a different bag from the Birkin... I will share some thoughts on the sizes. IMHO I don't relate 30 or 35 to how tall or short a person is and only somewhat on much they will carry. I have both sizes and think they are very different bags. I love both my bags but enjoy carrying the 35 more.

I like the 35 better because I love its commanding and imposing size ... and casual look. I love the weighty feel of this bag. There is just something thrilling about carrying it!

I love my 30 and love having the variety but I have to say that I don't get quite the same euphora feeling with the 30. I wear it as open as possible with "batwings" to give it a casual look. I agree.... I hate cutsey also, B&B, and I think the 30, while not quite cutesy .. it can look more conservative, especially if all buckled up.

The 30 I think would be nice for evening if you have on a dress or nice outfit. If for evenings out you wear jeans and heels... I think you could rock a 35.

The City and birkin are the same size, but the birkin fits more, as it opens up to a larger depth. They are so different in designs too. I have both a City and Birkin (30 and 35)... I use them on and off and they all fit whatever I need. The city is definitely lighter as the leather is thinner, and the shoulder strap makes it a perfect every day bag. I definitely use my Bbags more than my Hermes items. I tend to (over)protect my birkins haha.

Thank you all for your replies! All the info really helps! Looks like the perfect size is something inbetween a 30 and 35! LOL. Perhaps I will just chance it with whatever size my brother can get at FSH. Heh....
