I personally feel like it’s happening, in my last visit to Miami I saw nothing from RM in Nordstrom but saw a lot of Kurt Geiger And my own country just has very little of Rebecca Minkoff but Kurt Geiger it’s going strong.

so is Kurt Geiger replacing Rebecca Minkoff as the glam rock mid range prices brand ?

if you ask about Bloomingdales that store stopped having contemporary brands on my nearest store which was Aventura.

even Nordstrom which still has a fair amount of contemporary bags narrowed that section.

Well, they lost me anyway. I love KG. I have 2 bags and a Quench set from KG, I'm thinking of getting a WOC or a small wallet from them. RM is a bit basic/boring IMO and the prices are climbing. No hate, just not ready to pay the European prices for RM.

I like the Eddie line frpm Rebecca Minkoff but yes the first line that brand had was the best and pritiest.

the love bag( the one which is the boy bag dupe) changed so much in s bad way, when it started and I had it it was a chain we could turn double or single now it’s only single.
the affair and the MAC they stopped doing it,
the affa was practically the classic flap Chanel with snap closure but it was a great substatue the classic flap but they stopped doing it, I guess the Eddie replaced that bag.

i think Kurt Geiger is now the cooler brand.

I've seen mixed reviews on quality or value for the price of Kurt Geiger so I've steered clear. Do you/anyone else here have recs for KG styles or leathers that you're happy with?

I know some Rebecca Minkoff stuff in the last few years has had quality issues as well but I've been happy with my Edie line purchase from the summer and have had really good luck with secondhand purchases of RM's older styles.

I agree with this, I loved Rebecca Minkoff in the heydays of the Affair, Love, and MAC (so after the original MAB era), I have multiple colors in each of these styles, all bought on sale mostly at Nordstrom Rack, still wear them especially my black Love Crossbody which is pretty much my daily default bag. I still see some RM for sale but not near as much as before.

I'm a recent KG fan, I bought 4 bags in the last few months, all from Nordstrom Rack, 2 in store and 2 online. All flaps with the eagle head, I have a large brown tweed, medium black/colorful tweed, large fuchsia leather, medium ombre rainbow leather metallic. I actually saw all but the fuchsia one being sold on the Nordstrom full line website, 2/3 still at full price, when I purchased at the Rack.

When I find a well priced bag style I like, I seem to buy in multiples, I did this with Patricia Nash Ferrara frame satchels too, which I still wear and really like too.

I haven't had quality issues with any of the above brands, I don't baby any of them as the prices were reasonable and I bought them to use, none of my bags from these brands have excessive wear but I rotate regularly.

I can only speak for the KG styles/materials I have, and they are all only a few months old at most, but I have used each KG bag several times and not had any issues. The tweeds are not light in color, so I think they won't show marks if there are any. I haven't seen pilling of the tweed material. The medium size tweed is structured, the large size is more relaxed but still holds its shape. My fuchsia is very soft leather but wearing well so far, it is not very structured, I think it's probably modeled after the Chanel 19 vibe. The metallic ombre leather is holding up well, I've had issues with metallics peeling or losing their shine before, but this one seems fine, it is more structured. A couple of my RM bags are metallic leather and also have held up fine.

All of my KG flaps have 2 compartments inside, center divider. The chain loops through the divider, this actually stabilizes the bag a lot, so when you are wearing it and open it your things will not fall out, also puts less stress on the flap. Mine all have 2 magnetic snaps for closure, easy to pull open and close. They can be worn single chain which is off shoulder or maybe crossbody (a little short for me and I prefer long shoulder anyway) or doubled chain. There are 2 padded portions on each strap, so when you double the chain no chain is digging into your shoulder like the bags with only 1 padded part, and if you wear long like I usually do the padded part keeps the chain from sliding around and getting off center. Even the large sized KG flaps I have are not too big to wear single chain long, I do find my RM Large Affairs too big to wear this way and always wear those doubled. KG does make XXL flaps, these are really huge, I don't have any of this style. Overall, I think KG is a good quality brand, fun styles, well priced if you buy on sale which seems to be fairly easy to find if you are patient.

Tastes change and sometimes designers don't keep up with trends or are under financial pressure to cut costs. I was surprised RM survived as long as it has when so many of the other "contemporary" brands that started out in the same era have either folded or been stripped for parts and sold off to brand licensing companies (thinking of the "Kooba" slippers and made for off-price Botkiers out there now). The Geiger bags are cute and trendy and are of this era and in a few years someone will post "Is Kurt Geiger still cool?" and someone will respond, "If you love it, wear it!"
