Is neonoe too casual?

I feel like smaller bags are more appropriate for dinners. Typically the fancier the place, the smaller the bag. For example, at a really expensive place/event a lot of women will use clutches.

yeah that's why i'm not sure if the neonoe would work because it is a bit on the large side. I'm trying to keep the number of bags I have to a minimum so I want something really versatile. I think neonoe could probaby work at a nice restaurant (for example, michelin starred restaurants) with just the top handle and maybe a twilly to dress it up? but not sure if it would look weird so thats why i'm asking.

I'd recommend a smaller bag for evenings out, but I don't think anyone would judge you for carrying that bag considering that it's black and subtle. I've even seen a few women carry their monogram neverfulls to fancy evening events, which I thought seemed out of place, but even then most people didn't care.

I know you said you'd prefer to minimize your collection, but if I were you, I'd get both the neonoe and a small bag for evenings. The neonoe is such a tasteful daytime bag and as we move on from the pandemic, you'll find the smaller bag to be more functional than thought.

I am married with 3 kids, I won't care which bag I am carrying to my dinner as long as it fits all my essentials and kids' stuff(speedy B25, Noe BB, Coach Rowan satchel are the workhorse). Well, when I was single, I used to carry smaller and nicer bags to dinner dates. Also when I was eating out with coworkers, a backpack bag is the way to go with(because I have to carry my laptop home).

So it depends on which situation for your dinner dates

I’m considering the neonoe in epi black. It seems like it would be a great daily bag but wondering is it mostly casual/daytime or could you bring it to a nice dinner?

I think it could be used at a casual restaurant/bar. I wouldn’t bring it to a nice dinner but could totally see it for brunch, happy hour etc.

i think Epi leather has a more formal feel and black also contributes to a "smart-formal" aesthetic. for nice meals out with family or a lunch with friends, yes, sure! For date to cinema or formal event, like a black tie ball or cocktail party, it might be too big but i certainly would not think it out of place in that situation!
