I may be way off base here, but I want to know what you ladies think about this. I found this "Holt Renfrew Private Label" lambskin quilted tote while I was vintage shopping. It is incrediblely well made and obviously styled after Chanel, although the only label inside says "HOLT RENFREW CANADA". I have read that "back in the day" design houses would sometimes make unlabeled items for high-end retailers such as Saks, Holt Renfrew and the like. I wouldn't normally think twice about it, but this tote is so beautifully made that the quality seems to surpass even Chanel in terms of thick, buttery lambskin and overall quality. Anyone know anything about how retailers did these "private Labels" in the past?
