Hi All,
I got the trunk clutch in reverse monogram 2 days back. I bought it from the LV store. I din't check for the date code in the store. It was a new piece which my SA showed me. After comparing it with other pieces I picked it up. Yesterday when I tried to check the date code I could not see it. I searched the forum and few have mentioned where the date code is present for trunk clutch. I checked again today, but am not able to find it. Is it normal to have no date code on the bag? The bag is good with respect to all other aspects. Should I keep it or return it? Kindly advise if any one has faced this before.

Thanks in advance.

If you are concerned, call the SA you purchased from. They'll help you.

When the Vernis Amarante Sunset Blvd. was released in 2007, I received one that had no date code. I searched everywhere and could not find it. Since I bought it on Eluxury (before LV had web retail, this was their official site), I brought it to the LV boutique near me, and no one at the store could find it either. I asked to have it exchanged since I wanted one with a date code in the event I ended up selling it, and it was proof of authenticity. I cannot imagine anyone would buy the bag without the code if I listed it on ebay. So, for me, it's a necessity.

HI,
were you able to solve this? I bought one from Fashionphile and can not find the date code, on their listing they stated one but i couldn't find it on the bag (none was shown in any picture either). I'm sending it back to them.

I believe that they are phasing put the date codes over the next few months. I just bought an Alma bb that has one but the SA told me that there are still previously produced pieces with the date code but ones being currently made will have a chip instead. Supposedly for internal LV information and helping with repairs?? That was what she said. I like date codes though, and think they could have done both!

i personally prefer both as well. I love and welcome the chip technology because that gives me security but the date could helps with online authentication, when you can't access a store to confirm authenticity.

I spoke to my SA on this and exchanged the bag. I was told probably it has been stiched inside hence I cannot see it. How ever I dint wanted to keep it, as if I want to sell it in future it would be hard for me as every one asks for date code. Hope this helps.

I am curious as to how the chip technology will impact the resale market (probably the reason why they are doing this). I imagine the only people who can confirm the authenticity would be at LV, but I wonder if that's something they will allow you to do or only do it if you have that bag in the purchase history. If I recall, LV's stance is they never provide authentication at the store.
