Is it necessary to apply leather protector on DAMIER pieces?

Is it necessary to apply Appleguard/Shining Monkey etc. on DAMIER pieces, or is it literally 100% maintenance-free? Thanks!

I trotted to work with my Damier Speedy today in freezing rain and then a blizzard and it was completely fine! The canvas is totally waterproof and the handles are such that you don't have to worry about them getting stained. I wish all expensive bags were as weatherproof!

No bags technically NEED the treatment but the Damier definitely doesn't.
