We can afford occasional high end designer indulgences. In the past few years since a became interested in fashion, I bought stuff from no name brands to Dooney&Bourke, MK, Chanel, louboutin, YSL. I save for what I like. I'm currently saving for a new Chanel. I usually buy from the stores directly esp the high end stuff. Now...........a few days ago I found on eBay this pretty look alike of Chanel bag that looks very similar to the one I bought from saks. Mine came in many colors. But I chose one. Now I found a similar looking bags with the other different colors. I really love my bag, but I can't afford to buy 3 more real ones. I love the style. The seller doesn't claim they are real. They just say something like,"quilted bag". The bag is also not an exact copy, and doesn't have the CC logo. Knowing what the real one looks like, I can clearly see the differences.
Is it ever ok to buy? I love the style. I can't afford to buy the 3 real ones. I don't think I can find them in stores anymore. I'm not planning to wear them to high end places or pretend they are real. But I'm worried about people recognizing them as fakes. That will obviously ruin the other real stuff that I have. I'm afraid I'm not gonna be able to look my real bag in the face. I don't want to do anything wrong. I'm worried about my image and also self respect. Ideas???

There are lots of Chanel inspired bags. Only trouble is, when you already have a genuine one which looks like the ebay bag...I think you might be disappointed when receiving the latter.
Keep the money!

Don't buy it. Since you have the real one, you don't need the other. Doesn't matter if you only have one; it's authentic and luxurious. I'd rather have one authentic item than countless fakes.

No don't buy fakes.

Despite the fact that these replicas are made in ways we aren't assured of when it comes to processing and quality (such as child labor, inhumane treatment to whoever makes them, and leather vs leatherettes), there's also the problem with travelling internationally, to and from countries in europe or US.

A big huge fine for penalties. And jail time. Serious fashion police.

So no don't buy fakes. If u want a Chanel, get from Chanel. And if u don't want to spend money on big brands but want to get the same look and feel, there are so many independent brands out there that use leather (sans the big labels).

Good luck to u :)

I think fakes are NEVER ok, however inspired is different. Lots of designers are inspired by each other. Kate spade to target ext, all can be inspired by a brand like Chanel. I think that is ok. However, fakes are associated with horrible crimes. Read the book "deluxe, how luxury lost its luster." You will never consider a fake again. Horrible things happen when those fakes are produced.

Hiya,
I think that if you want it you should go for it, however with my recent personal experience I'd say not to because it will be EXTREMELY hard to get rid of once you don't want it anymore.
I have a fake Prada that I can't get rid of no matter how I try! Sigh, waste of money, that'll teach me.
Hope this helps x

The bag you are considering isn't a "fake" Chanel, since it doesn't look the same or have logos.

There is nothing wrong with buying it, except that you may find the quality disappointing. If there is a good return policy you could always order it and find out.

+1
Chanel's more than just appearance--it's a bag which functions gracefully & has quality materials/design. These may be subtle characteristics, but valuable.
I believe you will curse the ebay bag 5 minutes into wearing--when the dye melts onto your hands. Or the quilting unravels.

Thank you all,
What is the difference between a fake and a legal inspired by? While walking in the mall I see so many that took something from chanel, the strap, the quilting. There are a lot who don't know about chanel and LV. But for me or someone who knows it feels like cheating.
Yes the feeling that you have a real anything is amazing. Being able to spend doesn't make you a better person but it does feel like you are accomplished and successful. I'm not the kind to show off. It just feels good when you work hard and save and indulge in something nice.
Also, since I wrote the post I'm thinking I don't want to be seen with a copy....esp if someone recognized it. And if that someone is a friend, they will think that all your designer stuff is fake. Not worth it.

I think you biased the answers by using the word fake. Bags that are inspired by or in the style of Chanel and advertised as such are not fake bags. They're not claiming to be Chanel. They're perfectly good bags, they're just not Chanel. I don't think there's anything wrong with that, although I wouldn't pay Chanel prices for them either. But I agree you might always be a little disappointed that they aren't Chanels. If you can get past that and enjoy them for what they are, then go for it.
