Is It Ever Appropriate To Wear Black To A Wedding ?

My whole family wore black to my cousin's wedding. I did the LBD + knee high black boots ensemble with a white shrug. No one said anything negative about it. However, white at a wedding might be stretching it a tad bit.

I don't see anything wrong with a classic "little black dress". I think the key is that it's simple and right around the knee for length.

I hate it when women try to compete with the bride either by wearing white or some outrageous sparkly thing (and they're not a bridesmaid). I always say there's a "prom queen" at every wedding.

I wore a (borrowed) "little black dress" to an evening wedding. Lots of people were in black. I think it might be a bit much for a daytime, garden wedding, though.

I think black is just fine, although I know that you're never supposed to wear white or anything that could upstage the bride. (Don't want Bridezilla to beat you with the bouquet.)
