As I have been casually scanning various sites checking out bags, I notice that in the hierarchy, there are distinct “female” bags and “male” bags.

We are in an era where gender is fluid and non-binary.

Do we still need these distinctions? Should all of the bags just be in one big bag section and everyone can just look at whatever they want, sorted by style?

What do you think?

I don’t feel as though we are in the era of gender neutrality. I’m not seeing it.

Personally, I don’t care where the bags are being displayed. Just point me in the right direction. I know what I like and don’t care what section their in. If a bag is too masculine I’m not going to buy it. Period. I get to make that decision since, as far as I’m concerned, which is based on opinion. If I’m being completely honest, I prefer the separation. However, if a store decided to make one big handbag section, I’m not going to create problems where there are none.

I‘m certain that this is not a popular stance at the moment. Then, yet again, I don’t really care one way or another. For me, fashion is fun and frivolous.

I generally don’t like masculine bags and have never bought one. I wouldn’t like all bags to be grouped under bags because some stores show me 2000+ when I say show all and need inspiration. That’s sometimes too many and on occasion I give up. If that doubled I wouldn’t even start a search and shops may miss out on a sale.

At the moment I would imagine there are more people seeking separate gender bags than there are people seeking all bags which is why shops still have the distinction.
