I am falling in love with the Fendi baguettes. I went through a Louis Vuitton canvas stage for 4 years and now I just don't want something screaming designer logo. But I love the lambskin smooshy baguettes. I live in middle America. Do you think the average person without knowledge of handbags will know what the FFs are for? I would be happy if strangers thought my bag was some kind of weird brand from Target.

What is your experience with people recognizing your bag as Fendi?

I think the fendi baguette is well known because of sex and the city. They are also popular because of the the mini bag revival. They are probably more recognised in the monogram or bright fabric than leather.

fendi has a lot of great designs which aren’t recognised at all if you want something more low key.

I think the baguette is a classic shape and they will keep coming back whenever mini bags are having a moment.

Before I was into designer handbags the only fendi bags I recognized were the FF brown monogram ones. I knew it was some kind of designer but I never cared To look up the price because I was not into bags. Now I recognize everything. I think the leather baguette is not obviously Fendi to the average person, but it wouldn’t pass as a target bag either. It’s like coach bags..they are obviously well made and look expensive. The lambskin fendi baguette would at least look as expensive as a coach bag to the average person. If you get it ina neutral color like black or navy it’ll seem even more low key. I considered the baguette but the Loewe puzzle won in the end...so if you’re looking for a low key well made versatile bag, you may want to consider it.

I just don’t want to carry a logo bag that everyone knows it’s designer. I don’t mind if a tPF / fellow hand bag lover recognizes it. I want to be on the downlow but still carry bags I love. Thinking about it any bag is a step closer to downlow after all my LV mono canvas bags.

Yes.. I I understand and feel the same way most of the time. At times I prefer to carry my obvious Chanel bags, but on a daily basis I pick my more discreet luxury bags. I do agree that LV monogram and the damier print bags are more recognizable than the fendi leather baguette by the majority of people anyway. If you love it, go for it!
