Probably go as well as Texas trying to secede.

Never going to happen. The closest thing we have to getting a new state is Puerto Rico. California and Texas always seem to be stirring up these border issues.

Six is too many. I think there'd be a better chance to split it in half somewhere around the Bay Area.
