I got my first Birkin offer after 5 months wait, it’s a Epsom leather but Retourne in gold color, my SA said Epsom color in retourne is kinda rare? Is that the case? Since the gold/gold color was not my top choice, but still debating because Epsom with retourne looks nice to me, should I pass it or accept?

This is a very personal choice. I can only tell you how I felt, I was waiting for a dark blue kelly with silver hardware. My SA told me that this combo won’t be coming to the boutique any time soon - so she offered me a kelly 25 with gold hardware.

I wasn’t sure at first because just like you, I wasn’t too sure about the color gold. When I saw it in person my heart just started racing and I just had to say yes!! Fast forward 2 years later. My gold kelly with gold hardware is my most used hermes bag. It goes with almost every outfit and I get so many compliments! I hope this helps Keep us updated, listen to your heart when you see it in the boutique. You will know!

rarity with Hermes is such a relative concept some call Hermes rarity a marketing strategy, others see it as rare because of what they cost or where they live, in my case these bags are not under the radar so to see a gold birkin is normal, that does not mean they are not appreciated, also your sales associate might be right, sometimes because of how Hermes distribution works and certain trends, some very classic combinations or specs, may become rare. I have not been able to buy a new gold kelly, *my old one is 32 years old*, and I'm told gold is rare, at this time because Hermes introduced CHAI last year, and some stores purchased more chai than gold. SO lucky you ! .......... now if it's not your dream bag don't get it.... but if you want something rare ...... then maybe an Hermes gold 30 epsom birkin, im sorry to say is not what i would call rare, but it is beautiful and may i just add, don't buy something because its rare, buy it because it special to you.

The best advice throughout this forum is don't buy it unless you love it.
Joleenzy's post is a perfect example. She had a particular colour in mind, but her mind was open to looking at a completely different combination. When she saw it, she loved it and has enjoyed it ever since. That does not seem like your reaction to the bag you were offered.

Let's get one thing straight, I doubt your SA told you the bag is 'kinda rare' in an attempt to persuade you to buy the bag. You know that there are many many other clients at your store waiting to snap it up. And a second thing, rejecting the offer is unlikely to compromise be offered another soon.
