On ebay, I frequently see exotic skin (lizard, croc) handbags for sale but the seller says that the item cannot be shipped internationally due to U.S customs restrictions and U.S wildlife policies.

Does anyone have any more detailed information about this? What would happen if someone shipped such an item internationally? I've noticed that some sellers of exotic skins do NOT list this restriction.

I think there is the risk the item would be confiscated at Customs and you would not receive it and would also be out your money. To import certain items you have to have a certificate that the species is not endangered.

If the item is quesionable, it is best to call Customs and find out for sure before purchasing. Alot of sellers are ignorant of the rules.
