I’ll play even though what I have in mind isn’t quite the same :) In October 2024, DH and I were in Paris. In Palais Royale, at a Rick Owens shop, we saw these boots that looked like sculpture. In fact, I was debating whether to buy them as sculpture lol . .

Historically, Salvatore Ferragamo ‘s sister did artistic shoes. Rosina Ferrragamo Schiavone

At one point, I collected some of her beautiful shoes deadstock , even if they weren’t my size. . .then I came to my senses,
And stopped. And, donated everything. But, I was constrained by closet space lol.

For those that enjoy shoes more than as simple footwear!

Does anyone have any shoes that they love and which cross the boundary between art and footwear?

Starting off the thread with some cute animals from Wilbur Tu (Graziat)

I love the 'cracks' (or are the bolts of lightning). They are very fancy.

From the other side of the class spectrum, tt used to be very common in Britain to have hand-tooled and painted (stained) clogs. Leather soled shoes were only for the rich, many people wore wooden soled shoes, and sometimes they would decorate them with leatherwork, nails and grommets. To make the clogs wear even longer they put nails on the tips, that's where we get our tap dancing.

(Lightning bolts- the original version that a customer ordered was the purple one which looked like a storm)

Very cute photos ! Haven’t seen clogs in a hot minute but those nature themed ones are adorable!
