Interesting article about Graff in today's NY Times

That is a pretty fantastic article. I do like the comment in the beginning about the people who wear Graff own their jewels, and are not leant the jewels.

What I find interesting is that the article implies Tiffany and DeBeers are his "major competition" there. I don't equate Graff to Tiffany or DeBeers, I do see a correlation to say Kaufmann de Suisse and Leviev though, MAYBE HW. I have to say that the visit to Graff in NYC was fantastic, they appreciated my knowledge and that I wore my 1.15ct stone proudly. It was a ball in there touching and looking. Kaufmann was less than pleasant. They didn't seem to want anyone uninterested in actually purchasing the items looking at them.

The most INTRIGUING line of this article
“three carats is too small for an American.”

So interesting and yet in many cases, so true.
 
I just finished reading that while on the train. What an interesting piece.
I'm not surprised at all to read about the growing market in China due to the nouveau-rich and their taste for ostentatious bling!
