I am interested in a bag that a reseller in Hong Kong, (let trade), has available. I am hoping to find out what % I will be charged for customs, shipping to the USA.

I have searched the forum and couldn't seem to find a definite answer about the customs charge. I did read that a couple of ladies recently purchased from let trade and I was hoping they, or anyone with the knowledge, would chime in with an answer. I am not trying to be nosey and know the amount you paid in customs fees ;) just what the percentage was and any extra fees for customs charges.

Also if you wanted to throw in the info on how long your bag took to arrive and if you felt EMS was a safe way for them to ship, I would greatly appreciate it!

curiously i have always been charged a customs duty when fedex was the shipper and full value declared. and it is about 9 percent, plus a fee for the agent (fedex etc...) processing the paperwork

Laney2 - I just bought a birkin from let_trade about 6 weeks ago and had it shipped to me in the US via EMS, fully insured with full amount declared. I was prepared to pay 9% for customs duties, but for whatever lucky reason, customs did not "select" my package for review and thus, I was not charged with any duty whatsoever. I was really nervous throughout this process because I have had not so great experiences with U.S. customs previously in transactions unrelated to this one.

I am in Canada but have purchased from let-trade and did not have to pay duties on any of the items (and Canada is the WORST for getting you on duties) EMS is a great way to get your things.

I'm in Italy and though I've always been charged with custom duties (and way more than 9%, you lucky gals), I find EMS to be the quickest service ever.

I had a nice transaction with Let Trade and my bag was shipped via EMS and but they declared a lower value on the bag and I was never charged custom duties.
