I first became interested in designer bags in the mid 2000's and I was aware of Kooba bags as a beautiful, high-end line of bags, but they were starting to become less popular around that time and so I never got into them. Now they are out-of-business.

I like both new and older bags, and I also like to rehab purses. Recently, while in a thrift store, I was shocked to see a beautiful "New with Tag" Kooba Bag hanging among a group of cheap, plastic, damaged bags! When I touched the soft, smooth Kooba Italian Lambskin leather - I just knew that I had to buy this bag - but I was amazed to see that it was priced for only $3!

The bag was in wonderful condition and all I had to do was apply conditioner to the leather, and by luck I already had a Kooba dustbag on hand! Whenever I am out thrifting, if I see a dustbag for a designer bag priced cheaply, I usually buy it because I know that it might come in handy someday. I remembered having bought a Kooba dustbag several years ago so I got it out and washed it; I'm sure I had only paid a few dollars for it.

So that's all it took for me to become the proud owner of a gorgeous NWT Kooba Sloane Tote S7123-7 in Slate Gray that was originally released in 2006 at the retail price of $645!

I'm late but I am glad that I found her; this bag is so lovely that I'm sorry to have missed out on the original Kooba craze!

Here are some pictures of my (new to me) Slate Kooba Sloane Tote and dustbag, isn't it a lovely bag?! I love this bag and can't believe what a find. I have never seen such a bargain in my life. You are very lucky and I hope you enjoy using this bag. I love the crossed strappy look on the front.... reminds me of an old pair of boots I have. :girlsigh:

Thank you and I will post it there! I'm a Thrifter but I didn't even know that there was a TPF thread for thrift store treasure!

Thank you, it's so funny that you mentioned your boots because when I was searching for information about the Kooba Sloane Tote I found this blog article about "the boots from hell!" This woman bought a pair of Tory Burch boots because they matched her Kooba Sloane Tote! She loves the bag but hates the boots!

This kind of luck only comes around once in a very blue moon!!! You scored!!

Lovely! Congrats!

you really scored

Great find!! Enjoy your new bag!

Thank you, I'm really looking forward to carrying my new to me Kooba Sloane soon! The other day, when I was looking for information about Kooba bags, I posted this thread on TPF and it really generated an interesting discussion!

Too funny. These were Michael kors, I'll try to upload a photo. I do have another pair of Tory Burch boots that were gorgeous but unwearable (one fit normally but the other felt defective/ totally uncomfortable in some weird way) so they've been sitting in my closet for years.

Sienna Miller is the actress who put Kooba on the map. She was dating Jude Law, ages ago and carried a beautiful Kooba bag, probably early 2000's.
Here's an article about celebrities and Kooba bags and it mentions Sienna Miller and shows a picture of her carrying a Kooba bag.

Kooba named one of their bags "Sienna" so it was probably in homage to her!

Here are the boots I was referring to. I didn't realize your bag was grey at first; for some reason, I thought it was black and thought these would be a great match.
