Bluxcape: That is my problem now, trying to figure out which *type* of bag I'm really in love with! At first it was the Bolide, and for the most part it still is...but the Birkin has really gotten my attention lately, so now I'm up in the air and confused :confused1:

Hell I don't even know if there IS a Rose Shocking Birkin, though I have a feeling if I ever saw one, I'd fall in love with it!!!

I liked the HAC a lot, but I realize now, after trying it on, that its handles are just too small for me :push:

hmm, a bolide or a birkin??? well tough choice........the birkin is so casual and chic, and of course, it is the birkin... as for the bolide, well you got two types, the slouchy one or the more structured one.. so if you get the slouchy one, it is more casual, and the rigid one, more elegant (similar to a Kelly).. so, if it was me, I would get the birkin first, if you can, then the bolide next (I think bolides are easier to get than the birkin)... and then, just get tons of scarves or twilly's to decorate on your bag.. hehehe...hope that helps..

I love you guys and your enabling :D :D :D

I'm thinking the Birkin first now too, since Bolides are easier to get...but only if I can find the Birkin in Rose Shocking :D Because I'd definitely want a rigid Bolide, which I suppose would make it more formal, like the Kelly...man I still love the Bolide, but I think it's the color that I'm really in love with, so if I can get it in a Birkin, I will be so, so, so happy!!!

And I am racking up the twillys, and will be getting pochettes as soon as I get the bag :D

why not stick the RS for the Bolide since it is for sure available and get a Birkin in a different colour? Vert Anis, Cyclamen, Violette, Raisin, Black, Etoupe or Gris?

Because of two unfortunate reasons:

a. I won't be able to get a bag until September/early October, and I know that RS Bolide will be gone from my store by then :( :( :(
b. I can only buy one bag a year, and I won't be able to buy my next until around the same time as I'll be purchasing my first this year; so whatever bag I get, I want it to be something that I really love right of the bat :)

My second bag might either be Turquoise or Black... I'm considering Raisin, or Blue Roi, but I dunno...I looove bright colors :D Not sure what style, though I know that if I manage to get an RS Birkin first, I'll want a Bolide next!

It's a big decision, one that I'm still considering; I still sort of feel like I'm too young to have a Birkin :confused1: But this feeling leaves me when I consider how my style is now maturing a good bit, and my lifestyle already, or as it stands (having my own three bedroom house, a really nice jewelry collection, etc.)

I always lean towards black but once you are there and have the options... you just never know... Go... check out all the colors you can get your hands on. Its a process.

i'm in my 20s and pish posh for feeling too young for a Birkin! they are masterpieces but they are, afterall, handbags. totally depends on how you work it. if lindsay lohan can do it, so can you. :graucho:
the only people uncomfortable with younger women carrying these bags are women who don't have them yet themselves, imho. i can see the point of someone possibly judging a 16 year old who carries one, but if you are living in your own house and i'm assuming you are in your 20s, i dont see the prob. it is too beautiful of a piece of fashion to keep from your closet merely because of age.

ps smart to save for beautiful Hermes instead of dropping $1-3k on "it" bags every few months or every month! seriously, nothing compares anymore. not all the feathers and rhinestones in the world. i have my precious little collection, but i really don't see myself buying another non-H purse again for a long time. i slipped up about a month ago and bought a purple Chanel but that was it! done! purse ban except for H!

Neeya, I'm a little late on this thread, but I could totally see you with a bleu jean 32 or 35cm kelly in togo. Rose shocking is a very pretty colour..and will go with so many colours, but wouldn't be appropriate at a funeral, right? If you only had one bag, you need to think about all possible uses. Are you dead set on the bolide? I agree that youth and birkins can be a heady combination, but kelly is so classic. I can totally see you carrying one. You can take kelly anywhere. That's the beauty of it over birkin, which is more casual, even in the smaller sizes. That's just my opinion, of course.

In terms of black vs. colour, I agree that a black bag in the summer with a white/pink outfit, whilst it would be charming, it's a jarring pop of colour. Perhaps gold? Gold is a very gracious, calm, elegant shade that can be worn with millions of things.

So, after reading everybody's suggestion, I think you should go with your instincts when you see it in the store. Hands-on is a very different perspective than seeing a million pictures. Best of luck to you!:smile1:

Colour is the new black anyways ;)

You do have nice taste though, I like the combos you picked. The bag went very well with all of those. And in winter, should you decide to still wear it, it'll go very well with the darker colours too, as it's a fresh colour that would pop!

Yep Neeya, I agree with Perja! Go with color...you won't go wrong or regret it.

Thank you guys all for your help!! :)

Lady Emma: I love the Kelly!!! The more I've thought about it, the more I think I want my first black Hermes bag to be a Kelly; it's dressy but can also be worn casually, and it's so chic looking! I had a patent leather with gold hardware bag that looked like a small Kelly years ago that I bought at a thrift store, and I just loved how it looked!

Croissant: it's so funny, I'm actually on some days beating myself up over loving such expensive bags at this age, and realizing that I could buy 5 or 6 luxury bags for the amount that an Hermes would cost! But I don't think I'd be happy at all with those bags, even though I'd have quite a collection within a year :shame:

And I know this has so little to do with this post, but at times, I feel bad for having this love for Hermes bags. I can buy them, but I know my Dad wouldn't be happy about me buying a bag like this (even though he has supported major fashion habits in the past, they are just less expensive than an Hermes bag as individual pieces...collecting over time it ended up being a very pricey collection), because my Mom and Dad just *don't* spend a lot of money on things like that. They buy expensive jewelry and antiques, and my Dad buys tons of farm equipment, but not accessories or really expensive clothing. I know my Dad would be disappointed in me for spending that much $$$ on a bag. But I love Hermes bags, and I can't justify spending a lot of money on multiple trendy bags! In a way, I have a lot of my parents in me, as I don't like to waste money on things that I'll only use a few times, and expensive trendy items are that type of a waste to me. But an Hermes bag is the exception for me. I know my Dad would rather see me save most of the money every year or buy something else (a really nice watch, some pearls or a really nice antique ring, or some antique furniture), but I can't bring myself to do it! I save plenty of money, but my god I don't want any more jewelry, I have so much freaking jewelry that I don't even wear half of it! I'm 22 and I've already got a very nicely sized antique collection!!! I just want to spend money on something fun and lovely and useful for once, before I get out of college. An item that will always be classic, just like my jewelry and antiques. Yet, I still feel guilty, though my sister laughs at me and says I'm being ridiculous. I guess I have deep-rooted issues when it comes to every disappointing my Dad, since he's always been so supportive of me

Bleeeh, sorry everyone, I'm venting :wondering

^^^^

Neeya,

Don't worry about disappointing your Dad. I'm a bit older than you,(more than I want to admit) but my mother still lectures me on what I buy including the bags. She loves jewelry too ( like your parents), and although she would never admit it, I have caught her admiring my Hermes, Vuittons, and I know she wants my pink Gucci bag from three years ago.

Bottom line is that your Dad would want to see you happy. As long as you are being financially responsible ( and it sounds like you are by buying one bag a year), you are an adult, and will do as you please. They know that, and obviously raised a very caring and thoughtful adult. This is shown just in how you are debating the RS bolide vs Birkin.

Trying looking at all major purchases as $$per wear. In other words if you will carry this RS bag for the next 20 year at least one month out of the year, it will cost you less than a dollar per wear. Compare that to a 5 grand piece or jewelry that you might only wear on special occasions...that would be more$$ per wear and thus less practical.

Hi yall!

Before I give my opinion I just wanna say this site is awesome (first timer). Yall look like really nice gurls, hope we can become friends in time!!
Anyway, I'd definitely go for the black, it's more classic and if you can't afford many bags (like me *sheds a tear*) it'll soooo give you your money's worth. Cheers!
