I'm keeping it to myself...but I think my co-worker's Coach bag might be a fake. :-(

While I was waiting for my own bag to come in, I happened to notice that my co-worker carried a Coach bag in to work. It looks older (and it is, from what she told me after mine came in -- she thinks it was possibly from the 1980s or 1990s?) and she inherited it from someone, who possibly got it from someone else, which is why I'm keeping my mouth shut. The telltale sign for me is that the bag has the "CCs" on the outside and inside, but when she was showing me today I think I might have also noticed that the "Cs" didn't quite line up right.

I could be wrong on this, and I can't exactly sneak a pic of the bag to get it authenticated since it's not my bag. But if it's fake, I'd feel bad about mentioning it to her. :-(

I'd just keep it to myself. If it is, she could already know. Sometimes it's better just to keep our mouths shut. Unless of course it wasn't a special bag and she would be horrified carrying a replica.

It sounds like she's happy with her bag and it may have some sentimental value for her, so I'd not share an opinion on its authenticity. It may lead to hard feelings if you do suggest it's fake.

Plus she may get defensive because she would likely be embarrassed about it if she did not know. I don't see a happy ending to this. Unless she is someone you dislike who is always boasting and it would feel good to knock her down a peg, I would remain silent

If she brings up those 1980-1990 dates again, you might tell her privately that Coach didn't start making ANY bags with any C pattern until 2000, and none were ever made in the US. Then see what she says.

Yeah, I wasn't planning on saying anything, and she was guessing on the date, I think. Like I said, she inherited the bag from someone else, so I don't think she knows the true history of it. And she told me if she were to buy one for herself it wouldn't be with the signature fabric. I like the lady, which is why I feel bad (it wouldn't have come up if I hadn't mentioned my Coach trip this weekend)...but she seems happy with the purse, which is why I'm keeping my mouth shut.
