I don't own any designer bags. I am on a budget, not entirely restrictive, but it wouldn't be responsible for me to buy a bag that cost several thousand. I also don't buy new leather, unless it's an absolute necessity, and there's no way I can justify a bag as a necessity. However, I just discovered Fashionphile. Used, and good prices. I feel like a monster is being created.

You're not the only TPF'er who has gone down that rabbit hole. There are several other online consignment shops that members have purchased from so you may be looking at a many headed monster.

Create some rules for yourself before you take the next step if you're worried. If you are worried about discipline then walk away while you can. Lol.

There are some very good threads in the money subforum that are eye opening. Tpfers have shares their journeys and money woes. Those stories might help as you start your luxe journey.

Good luck!

The title made me laugh! Yes, you are. I would prioritize and plan what is important. Don't overspend unless you can afford it. Best thing is just to window shop for now to figure out the proper prices and designer that you like.

advice: take a very long time, like a year (seriously) to stalk places like FP. you'll get an amazing insight into how things are priced, what sells fast and what doesn't, and etc. the more educated you can make yourself before that first designer purchase, the happier you'll be. but pre-loved is the best way... save yourself hundreds+

I agree with everyone who advised you to take your time and not feel rushed into a "bargain." My shopping rule is that if you wouldn't buy it at full price (assuming you are financially able to), then don't buy it at a discount. Remember that "pre-loved" is a fancy word for "used" (not that there's anything wrong with that -- some of my favorite bags come from resellers -- but it can be helpful to take the gloss off the terminology). And finally, always get things authenticated, either by the tPF experts for through a paid service. Fashionphile is reputable, but human beings make mistakes and it is always good to be safe rather than sorry.

Thanks everyone!! I'm planning to wait a bit before I buy a bag, I'm going to do that as a reward for paying off my student loans, which will take another year or so. I do intend to buy a couple smaller things before then, but nothing expensive.

Very smart talk.
Buying some SLG is also a good way to figure out which designers' work pleases your eye and who has the right logic when it comes to functionality.
