Hi gals! I’ve been on ban island for a few months now, and don’t plan on leaving it until at least June. My sisters wedding is coming up this summer and I really want to buy a nice evening clutch. I want something I could use to all my formal events, fall and winter. My budget is 4,000. Any suggestions? I want a timeless bag that’ll last forever and match with most evening styles. I wear a lot of darker colors, especially black when it comes to evening clothing. What’s your all time fav evening clutch?

I recently got the Chanel Gabrielle Clutch for a ball. It is a bit unusual for that type of occasion but it works. I think it makes a great “only one” evening clutch specially because of the mixed hardware, which means you don’t have to worry about matching jellewry! Apart from that, it is very versatile, you can wear the chain many ways and make it part of the outfit, or you can simply remove it and use as a handheld clutch (it looks so dainty held by the hard base) . It also fits a lot for such a small bag, including a clever easily accessible compartment for a mobile phone. The branding is rather discrete for a Chanel, and would fit many occasions. It really is a very good design. I believe it will stand the test of time even when the Gabrielle goes out of trend because it is at once classic (with the quilted leather) and unique in shape. I think it is overpriced (like all current Chanel) but under 4000 $ in any event.

I’ve never thought of that bag as a clutch! I’m going to go check it out.

Oh exciting! What fun finding a special clutch for these events. Like others have stated, the BV knot is a real stunner & I was planning on buying one, but I ended up w/ Chanel WOCs instead. My most versatile WOC is probably my SO Black reissue WOC. I know some people may not like the fact that the crossbody strap on chanel WOCs is not removable, but some of us do tuck the chain inside if you only want to hand carry it (but then you do lose some space inside) I just like the chanel woc because it does fit my larger size iPhone 8+, along w/ a lip product & tissues for your happy tears at your sisters wedding. Best luck deciding!

I believe it is a fairly new design. You also find it in the style of the Boy and the classic flaps. There is even one with pearls. They all have the removable strap, which in my view is an improvement over the WOC. But only the Gabrielle has the mixed hardware, which to me is a real winner for evening wear.
