Identify This Valentino

The aesthetics of this dress is very similar to those from Fall 2009. It could be something from that era, not everything is shown on the runway and there are scant records of Cruise and Pre-fall collections then so it’s really difficult to find information of one particular piece of ready to wear item. Found a dress made of the same floral silk as one of those dresses. Worn by Anne Hathaway at the Rodeo Drive Walk of Style Induction Ceremony for Valentino Beverly Hills, California - 02.04.09.
She wore a Valentino Pre-Fall 2009 belted champagne and pink floral satin dress.

Guess that would indicate that all those dresses might be of the same season?

I'm fairly certain this isn't Valentino.

I mean, it is technically, but it's by a brand called Mario Valentino. They're a fast-fashion type of brand that often gets 'inspired' by designers, Valentino Garavani included.

Valentino Garavani tried to sue them a long time ago, but nothing came of it.

I'm fairly certain this isn't Valentino.

I mean, it is technically, but it's by a brand called Mario Valentino. They're a fast-fashion type of brand that often gets 'inspired' by designers, Valentino Garavani included.

Valentino Garavani tried to sue them a long time ago, but nothing came of it.

They have a co-existence agreement between them. As a brand, Mario Valentino pre-dated Valentino Garavani by about 8 years. Both are legitimate brands with Valentino in their names. VG is much more lux than MV and it shows in the pricing. Does MV capitalize on the similarity in their names? Yes. Is this illegal? No, not since they already have a co-existence agreement. I do think VG tried re-suing MV for producing bags that were too similar to some VG pieces but it is very hard to make something like that stick in court. Otherwise, all the brands that produce bags that look like Chanel classic flaps would go belly-up.

Not sure about this exact bag, but the floral motif did remind me of the petale collection valentino did maybe 10 years ago? It may not be part of that collection, but I do recall there was a lot of patent bags made around that time.

If you Google valentino black patent bags with flower applique, you will see a bunch. Some are being sold on poshmark. Good luck.
