I'm looking around for a dressy women's watch. My only requirements are that it be silver-toned (not a fan of gold or the mixed metal look), an automatic movement, and a small case diameter. Thing is, most brands I've seen usually use a quartz movement at this size.

I've been looking into a few Mido watches, especially their Baroncelli line. Has anyone heard anything about this brand/line?

Mido is a perfectly respectable watch brand under the Swatch group umbrella. They tend to be similar in quality to Bulova and Oris.

Frederic Constant and Longines also make nice watches in that price bracket.

Not sure what your budget is. I recommend the Rolex datejust with jubilee bracelet, fluted bezel in 28mm. It’s a versatile watch and timeless.
Thank you! This model looks very nice, but maybe I'll save this for a later milestone in life. No specific budget, but as I'm just dipping my toes into watches, it's hard to justify that amount for something I'll wear <10 times a year.

Tissot makes some nice automatic watches for reasonable prices. don't know if they will be the style you want
Thank you! I dove down a rabbit hole with Tissot and am looking at their Le Locle models.
What do you think about this? Is 29mm for a case diameter too large to be dressy?

Years ago I was gifted by my x dh a Mont Blanc men’s midsize watch. It’s automatic. They also carry women watches as well. It’s a great looking classic watch and not as expensive as a Rolex. Mine is a silver matte finish with a black face. I’d wear the watch more if I could find the extra links. With age came water retention and weight gain. :annoyed:

Thanks for pointing Montblanc out! There's one right next to a Tissot near me, so I'll be checking them out tomorrow.

Have you contacted if they had any extra links kicking around for repair purposes? Might be worth a try. They usually keep parts for 20 years!
