What a mean thing to say
It's hard to see the details, but judging from the lack of stiffness in the portion of the leather strap which is pictured (and the size of the hardware, in proportion to the rest of the bag), I'd venture to say that it's a vinyl bag she probably picked up somewhere because she liked the size and style. The bag doesn't have a lot of "body", like a heavier leather bag would have. Even the whipstitching along the sides looks like soft squishy vinyl.
