I think UPS stole my return package

The first LV item I've ordered off the site was a couple weeks ago-- the reverse monogram cardholder.
The day it arrived, I noticed an issue with glazing so I initiated an exchange and dropped off the package at UPS on the same day. I had to ask for a receipt and the UPS guy told me it would be picked up the next day, 9/3.
Well, 8 days later and the tracking still says "dropped off." It never got picked up or scanned again according to the tracking info.
I called UPS and LV to start an investigation, but they said it could take up to 14 business days and I called that UPS store and the clerk sounded rude and just told me it was picked up Friday, which I think is a lie. :sad:
Has anyone had any similar experiences? I am hoping that my return receipt is enough proof for LV to send me another one if the package is still lost after 14 days... but they couldn't tell me much on the phone. I'm worried that the UPS clerk or someone there may have stolen the package.. I don't see any other likely scenarios. Anyways, sorry for the long vent.. Trying to stay hopeful..

Before I went to stolen, I’d assume it got misplaced or sent out without a scan. I’d assume accident or human error over malice when it comes to shipping services, the 14-day buffer is because things often seem lost or stuck but then appear and it’s much easier on the merchant and shipping service to wait it out.

LV in their contract with UPS has insurance or they’ve decided on an acceptable level of loss or both on their packages. It sounds like you have proof via the receipt that UPS accepted responsibility for the package. Now you just have to wait to see if the item shows back up and they process the exchange or if they’ll have to send a new item due to lost package.
 
I'm sure you'll be fine, particularly as you have the receipt. I remember the first time I returned something via UPS (which was a collection at my door) and I expected to be given a receipt but the guy told me that they don't provide receipts. I found that a bit strange, because I've always automatically been given proof of receipt from any other courier whenever I've returned anything. I've never had any issues with UPS, though. It's a possibility that it's been lost, but in that event I'm sure LV will send you another. Let us know how it goes!
