but, I also think I am OK with that. I have an outdoor ligne bag, a cabas, navy patent jumbo and bordeaux diamond shine flap, so this is my first caviar bag. I really have nothing to compare it to, but it is not very shiny or pebbled. But, it is fine. Any downsides to the new caviar other than preference??

seems a lot of the regulars prefer the old caviar - I havent seen the new cav irl but I just got a jumbo in the old cav and I dont like that one at all!!
