My friend and I were checking out the jewelry counter where DH & I bought baubles for my recent birthday. I told her about the garnet necklace he gave me. Guess what she bought? Not the same one, as I bought the only one, but a pretty garnet & diamond pendant and chain, in 14kt yellow gold. (She has a garnet & diamond engagement ring, so she wanted a matching pendant.) I think I'm a bad influence! 
I've been known to be a bad influence in a jewelry store. I once "sold" a pearl necklace/earrings set to a customer--I was browsing, and started to agree with the salesman--so much, he (he knows me slightly from seeing me there often) said, "Well, you're doing such a great job, I'll leave you to it!" I merely explained pearls to the customer, who was buying them for her teenage granddaughter. I even helped her choose a set. Gosh, that was FUN!
