It’s a bit misleading. It wasn’t a LV store, it was a store (“Elegant”)in the mall attached to the hotel. And, no disrespect to the proprietor, but from the looks of how the bags were displayed in the store, I find it hard to believe that anyone thought they were real...

Be very careful where and what you buy. The latest round of looting in Chicago over the weekend hit some familiar names especially on North Michigan Avenue. Chicago being Chicago, it's very possible that these smash-and-grabs at least partly involved gang members which means that sooner or later some of the "hot" items will end up on various selling sites like Ebay, Etsy and maybe even some of the online consignment sites.

There's probably no way to trace the stolen items unless some of them had chips or traceable serial numbers, but just be warned, and always be careful of name brand and highline goods with questionable origins.

Multiple offenders in custody at Quincy and LaSalle between LaSalle and Clark. This followed a car crash. Police checking for guns with these offenders at 2:39 a.m. — possibly from a call moments earlier at the AT&T store at 205 West Monroe.


Police were in the area armed offenders with guns in the AT&T store at Monroe and Wells (205 West Monroe)..."



The police are collecting CCTV records from the affected areas and asking anyone who might have taped or recorded any of the looting to please bring the recordings to the Chicago PD.
