It’s a bit misleading. It wasn’t a LV store, it was a store (“Elegant”)in the mall attached to the hotel. And, no disrespect to the proprietor, but from the looks of how the bags were displayed in the store, I find it hard to believe that anyone thought they were real...

Speaking of "iffy" merchandise - (Sorry if I'm hijacking your thread, BB!)

Be very careful where and what you buy. The latest round of looting in Chicago over the weekend hit some familiar names especially on North Michigan Avenue. Chicago being Chicago, it's very possible that these smash-and-grabs at least partly involved gang members which means that sooner or later some of the "hot" items will end up on various selling sites like Ebay, Etsy and maybe even some of the online consignment sites.

There's probably no way to trace the stolen items unless some of them had chips or traceable serial numbers, but just be warned, and always be careful of name brand and highline goods with questionable origins.

"... Many downtown business were damaged and looted, including the 7-ELEVEN, Apple Store (North and Clybourn), Best Buy, Bloomingdale’s, Burberry, Coach, CVS, Foot Locker, Gucci, Macy’s, Nieman Marcus, Nike, Nordstrom, Omega, Pandora, Potbelly Sandwich Shop, Saint Laurent, Target, TJ Maxx, Urban Grocers, Walgreens, and more..."

Police were in the area armed offenders with guns in the AT&T store at Monroe and Wells (205 West Monroe)..."

The police are collecting CCTV records from the affected areas and asking anyone who might have taped or recorded any of the looting to please bring the recordings to the Chicago PD.

I've seen this before but cant remember what country right now. The hotel had a boutique that sold LV and a few other brands and had me raising my eyebrow. Nice to know my suspicions weren't unfounded.

It’s actually very common in countries in Asia , sadly many of them get away with it
